The State Government is undertaking a five-year statutory review of WA’s strata law (the Strata Titles Act 1985) that will include two public consultation periods.
The first consultation will run between 1 and 31 October 2024.
The review aims to build on the 2020 strata reforms and identify further opportunities to make strata better for owners, residents, and industry professionals across the state.
Landgate will administer the review on behalf of the Minister for Lands and encourage broad feedback through its public consultation periods, ahead of a final report being prepared for Parliament from mid-2025.

Review scope now available
Three themes will inform the review’s scope, guiding its research and consultation focus:
- Improving cost controls in strata titles schemes
- Enhance strata living
- Strata manager practice and standards
These themes cover the early reform priorities identified by the Minister for Lands and by Landgate, in consultation with industry. However, feedback submissions that fall outside these three themes will still be welcomed through the public consultation process for evaluation within the review.

Two-phased public consultation
Landgate will encourage online feedback submissions through two stages of public consultation:
- Phase one public consultation in October 2024 to focus on issues identification.
- Phase two public consultation in the first half of 2025 to focus on reform solutions.
Both consultation phases will be run through Landgate’s website and are open to anyone wishing to make a submission. In addition to the online consultation, supplementary feedback for the review will also be obtained from interviews with industry and government stakeholders.
