Coming soon - Changes to Verification of Identity process for Self-Represented Parties Changes to the Verification of Identity process for Self-Represented Parties will occur in early 2025. Self-Represented Parties will still need to undertake face-to-face Verification of Identity with a participating Australia Post outlet under the Registrar and Commissioner of Titles’ Joint Practice for Verification of Identity. However, several other key changes will come into effect: · A Verification of Identity Statement will no longer be provided to the identified party. · The identified Self-Represented Party will need to complete a statutory declaration for each specified land transaction document they intend to lodge with Landgate for registration or noting. · Persons who can only satisfy Category 5 Identity Documents under the Verification of Identity Standard, will be unable to represent themselves in a land transaction. · The number of Australia Post participating outlets will be slightly reduced. Landgate continues to recommend all persons who intend to conduct a land transaction on the WA Land Titles Register obtain the services and advice of a qualified industry professional. Further information about this process change will be made available closer to the transition date. Bruce Roberts, Registrar of Titles Shane Nelson, Acting Commissioner of Titles |

Last chance for feedback on WA’s new strata education model The State Government has worked closely with industry to propose a new and enhanced model for strata management education qualifications in Western Australia. It sets out a minimum qualification of a full Certificate IV in Strata Community Management and mandates experience requirements for all people working in a professional strata manager role, alongside other changes. Public consultation on the proposed model is open until 9 December 2024 on Landgate’s website, where a consultation draft of the Lands Regulations (Community and Strata Titles) Amendment Regulations (No. 2) 2024 is available to review. Strata managers will have a transitional period from the commencement of the new regulations (anticipated in 2025) to meet these new requirements. |
