Landgate's April 2013 Business Activity Profile, released today, shows a five year high for the month, supporting evidence of a continued surge in property activity in Western Australia.
Landgate Acting Chief Executive Ian Hyde said the document increases were across the board.
"The last time April recorded more than 30,000 document lodgements was in 2008," said Mr Hyde.
"Our data shows improved volumes for the month across a range of activities, including transfers, mortgages, strata plans and creation of new lots," he said.
The total number of documents lodged in April 2013 was 31,041, an increase of 15 per cent from the previous month and an increase of 26.5 per cent from April 2012.
Transfers lodged in April 2013 increased 13 per cent from the previous month and increased 35 per cent from April 2012.
Mortgages lodged during April 2013 increased by 20.4 per cent from the previous month and increased 34.7 per cent from April 2012.
Landgate's Business Activity Profile covers all property related documents lodged within Landgate and is a barometer of the state of the property market in Western Australia.
