Landgate has awarded NGIS Australia the contract to supply and customise the technology which will improve Western Australia's Shared Land Information Platform (SLIP).
Known as the SLIP Future project, the redevelopment will be managed by Landgate through the Western Australian Land Information System. The project is a key initiative under the State Government's $23 million Location Information Strategy to be delivered between 2012 and 2015.
Landgate Chief Executive Mike Bradford congratulated NGIS Australia and said the company will play a crucial role in developing a robust, user-driven infrastructure to improve the way location knowledge is accessed across the State.
"Western Australia is internationally recognised as a leader in the management and use of location information and technology and we are taking the next important step to meet the future needs of the State," said Mr Bradford.
"SLIP Future builds on the success of the SLIP program over the past five years. It will utilise new technology to deliver accurate, up to date and relevant location information to support planning, investment and development across Western Australia."
NGIS Australia Managing Director Paul Farrell said the company is proud to have won the tender and believes it is testament to its strength in delivering cost saving projects using innovative spatial technology.
"NGIS Australia has been appointed to deliver the first stage of an infrastructure refresh for SLIP, which will provide a contemporary architecture and design that is robust, functional and scalable to meet changing demands into the future," said Mr Farrell.
"The platform we will use to deliver this is based on the Google Enterprise technology. This solution has the benefit of Google's processing power with an easy to use interface for clients.
"The current SLIP Enabler will continue to operate throughout the redevelopment phase.
