Empowering social change through location data and technology will be among diverse topics discussed as part of the Locate24 three-day conference held from 7-9 May, 2024.
Presenter Peter Birkett, who is Landgate’s Data Collaboration Director, will explore how using these resources can play an important role in influencing social change through place naming.
Mr Birkett said Landgate was well-positioned to be a leader in this space.
“Place naming is so much more than just a name - it connects people to place, to culture and commemorates achievements,” he said.
“There are opportunities to leverage location data and technology to showcase WA’s cultural stories in a central place, to help educate the community and preserve culture and language.”
Spatial WA Program lead Darren Mottolini will join the Department of Transport and Planning to share his expertise with a presentation on Converging paths - digital twin journeys across the nation.
Landgate plays a key role in the use of data to benefit government, industry and the community and is proud to be a bronze sponsor of Locate24.
